Shacke Pak Travel Wallet Review
Cost: $15.99
Dimensions: 5” x 7.4”
Style: Belt attachment
Weight: 1.5 oz.
Materials: Ripstop nylon, YKK zippers
Origin: Made in China
The Shacke Pak Travel Wallet is designed to store passport, cash, and credit card. It attaches to your belt with a top loop, and is carried out of view, inside your pants. It’s a solid little travel wallet, made from ripstop nylon with sturdy YKK zippers. I bought this on Amazon for about $16
Material and Aesthetics
The Shacke Pak Travel Wallet is constructed from ripstop Nylon fabric on the outside. The inside back is a softer breathable mesh fabric where the wallet will be touching your leg. It has a very thick 1.5”nylon belt strap, that attaches to your belt loop.
There are three lines of stitching on the belt loop. One on the outside, where the fabric is sewn together. A second one on the inside holding the interior mesh, and a third row just holding the belt loop to the bag. It’s attached very well, I don’t think this is going to come undone. All of the zippers are large #3 YKK zippers with fabric pull tabs.
Size, Dimensions
This is a moderately large travel wallet. At 5” wide x 7 ½ “ tall, it’s big enough to store a lot than you will probably want to put in here. It’s big enough to hold several passports, probably a dozen credit cards, and hundreds of dollars in cash.
Color Options
A quick note on the color of the Shacke Pak travel wallet. It only comes in solid black, with only one black belt loop. Other travel wallets in this style, have two loops, one black, and one brown. The one you use will depend on the color of the belt you’re wearing. I don’t think this is a big deal, but the brown loop do offer slightly more camouflage from prying eyes.
Interior Components and Design
The Shacke Pak Travel Wallet has three zippered pockets. One large side pocket for your passport, with two interior mesh pocket dividers. The front bottom pocket has a mesh divider, for storing credit cards.
And then this top zippered pocket, opens all the way to the bottom of the wallet. It’s designed to hold currency without folding. It’s a pretty big pocket, but if you put small items in here, they’re going to be hard to get back out.
How to Carry the Travel Wallet
The Shacke Pak Travel Wallet is designed to be worn under your pants, with the nylon strap attached to your belt. You’re going to do this in your hotel, and not accessing this travel wallet in public. Ideally you will have a separate wallet use to pay for things. Where you have one credit card, and only enough cash for one day.
It is possible to store the wallet in your front pocket, but it’s pretty big, and will probably stick out. If you’re looking to do this, try something like the Chums Surfshort Wallet. You can attach it to your belt with a thin cord, making it difficult to steal.
There were some concerns I read on Amazon about the zippers. A reviewer had the side zipper open through normal walking. This zipper is pretty solid, and would be difficult for it to come open on its own. If you have concerns about this, you could cut the side pull tab. Which will give it a smaller profile, and remove most of the friction on the zipper.
Summary
Best Features
- Durability and materials, this is the best built travel wallet I’ve seen so far
- 1.5” webbing, Ripstop nylon, YKK zippers
- Great organization for such a small wallet
Worst Features
- Large profile and more bulky compared to other travel wallets
- More noticeable when fully packed, large number of pockets make it possible to put too much in the wallet
